Eight Years Married!

On August 7th, Felipe and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary!

My lifelong best friend Jessica (Jessie's namesake) sweetly watched our three kiddos so we could go out on a little brunch date, and then we we found a pretty spot in nature to take some photos in celebration of our day. Here are a few of my favorite photos from Monday!

These photos were taken at the restaurant where we ate, while we were waiting for our food.  Can I also add that dear friends gave us an anniversary offering so we could go out and celebrate?  Wasn't that just so sweet of the Lord to bless us in that way on our special day?  God is in the details...

A funny posed photo we always do!  It is becoming a silly tradition!
After eating brunch we went to a walking path (the Neuse River trail in Raleigh, NC), where we set up Felipe's tripod and took these photos of ourselves.  We had fun and enjoyed capturing these shots!

We are extremely thankful to God and His Word, for HE is the foundation of our marriage and our family.

When we got married, eight years ago, that was something strong on our hearts.  We prayed and declared God as the foundation, the solid rock, of our marriage, our family, and our whole lives (Matt. 7:24-27).  It is only because of the Word of God and His abundant grace and unconditional love that we even know how to love and respect one another. We give Him glory and praise for eight wonderful years together!

We have experienced many great joys together and also walked through dark seasons of heartache and challenges, and God has been faithful to teach us and unite us through the difficult times. This year this passage was strongly on my heart during our anniversary week, as recently we have been facing many personal challenges.

2 Cor. 4:7-12
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.

We rejoice in the Lord, and how He has been working in our lives and our marriage the past eight years!
